San Diego 2009 : Just a few days, and only actually a few hours of freedom, in San Diego for the San Diego Birding Festival. My yearly visit to Mission Bay and Point Lomas, plus an evening at the waterfront downtown (The Fish Market). Always something to see and photograph. Several weeks late this year, due to changes in festival dates, and just different enough to notice: Pepper Trees in full bloom, more wildfowers, different bird behaviors. They don't call it paradise for nothing!

Sanibel and the Everglades : an all too brief visit to south western Florida. Parts of three days at Ding Darling National Wildlife Refuge and Bowmans and Lighthouse Beachs on Sanibel Island, an afternoon at Corkscrew Swamp National Audubon Sanctuary, and a day along the north edge of Everglades National Park, Everglades City and Shark Valley.
